At one time, Balbriggan Stockings were a world-renowned article of clothing, sought after by clients from the ranks of European royalty, including her majesty Queen Victoria. Balbriggan Historical Society still has floral embroidery samples that came from the Smyth & Co. salesman’s catalogue of the 1890s. They are fine examples of the meticulous work of local women who, working by candlelight, painstakingly hand-embroidered the stocking fronts with a variety of delicate designs.
We worked with Balbriggan Tourism to design A5 postcards to show the beautiful designs of these stockings. We designed and printed the cards in-house. These cards are on sale in the Tourism office on George’s square.
